Happy Friday, comrades! For me, it’s been a long, grueling week marked by an all-nighter, early rises and a drive to LAX and back. I’m ready to wind down.
In keeping with the fact that my daughter has JUST returned from a month-long trip to Moscow, I give you the recipes for two beloved cocktails — if not by the Russians, certainly by me.
The White — and the Black — Russian.
We start with the darker version….
Black Russian:
– 3/4 ounce coffee liqueur (Kahlúa)
– 2 ounces vodka
Pour both over ice and serve in an old fashioned glass. As you can see, my glass is REALLY old fashioned: it was once a gift to my grandparents back in the 60s.
White Russian:
– 3/4 ounce coffee liqueur (Kahlúa)
– 2 ounces vodka
– half & half or other light cream
Pour the coffee liqueur and vodka over ice; fill the rest of the glass with the half & half and serve in an old fashioned glass.
Насладитесь! (Enjoy!)
