Sometimes my DIYs don’t turn out. And by “don’t turn out,” I mean, “Go horribly, terribly wrong.”

The cake stand at right is one such case. I got it as part of a package deal at my favorite thrift store for a whopping $3. I wasn’t a fan of it’s ye olde fashion-y look, and plus it was chipped at the base. I decided it as the perfect candidate for trying a little paint job.

However, what I ended up with was just plain eew.

To fix it? all I needed was a little Rust-oleum spray paint (which I had in the garage) and some newspaper.
