Ladies, are you aware that your favorite drink — a vodka/cranberry — actually has a NAME? No, it’s totally true. It’s part of a sexy threesome of beach-themed drinks that are all super similar in style, but slightly different. Since summer officially starts tomorrow with a predicted high of 102 degrees in this area, why not say goodbye to spring and simultaneously welcome the start of beach season with this beachin’ trio?
Enjoy: The Cape Cod; the Madras; and the Sea Breeze.
The Cape Cod: Also goes by the Cape Codder; so named after the cape on the easternmost part of Massachusetts. Total beach resort area.
Ingredients:
– 2 oz vodka
– 4 oz cranberry juice
Serve in a highball glass over ice, and garnish with a slice of lime.
The Madras: Named after the lightweight cloth (usually a plaid design) which is used to make summer clothing.
Ingredients:
– 2 oz vodka
– 3 oz cranberry juice
– 1 oz orange juice
Mix the vodka and cranberry juice in a highball glass over ice; top (float) with the orange juice. Garnish with a maraschino cherry and/or a slice of orange.
The Sea Breeze: Guess what this one is named for??
Ingredients:
– 2 oz vodka
– 3 oz cranberry juice
– 1 oz grapefruit juice (see what we did there?)
Mix the vodka and cranberry juice in a highball glass over ice; top (float) with the grapefruit juice. Garnish with a maraschino cherry.
