Occasionally when I’m feeling ultra awesome, I like to surprise the hubs when he comes home from work with a couple of drinky-drinks. Drinky-drinks are reserved for those nights when we have nothing planned, no school concerts to attend, no Open Houses, no school plays, no nothing of any kind that can interfere with our enjoyment of an otherwise quiet evening where we can laugh and goof off with each other AND ALSO if the following day is a Friday OR a Saturday. (Could someone write this up in a programming function for me? Because like 3 other people besides me might chuckle at that.)
So last night, being that we had to go to a school concert, I decided to throw the rules to the fore winds and I whipped up a couple of drinky-drinks anyway. WHY?
Because I’m crazy like that, dawg.
One of our favorite drinky-drinks? The naughty, dirty vodka Martini. If you haven’t had one, let me explain:
It’s a vodka Martini. What makes it dirty? The splash of olive juice. What makes it naughty? After the first one, you want like six more. There is no “one and done” with these puppies. And “two and through” is nowhere as easy as it sounds.
– 2 1/2 oz vodka
– 4 drops dry vermouth
– 1 Tbsp brine (from jar of olives)
– 3 small green olives, or two large, on a toothpick
Fill the shaker 1/2 way with ice. Add the vodka. Add the dry vermouth. Add the olive brine. Close and shake, shake, shake, shake your ‘tiiini. Pour the delicious concoction into a martini glass and garnish with green olives on a toothpick.
