Sometimes you see something pinned on Pinterest over and over and over and you have to wonder: Is it really worth all the attention? In our new series Pin-tested we take something you’ve seen a thousand times on Pinterest and put it to the test. Up next: A contour and highlight makeup tutorial in the style of Kim Kardashian.

The post has been all over Pinterest; perhaps you’ve seen it one or twenty times: “How to contour and highlight your face,” originally posted by TheUntrendyGirl. It’s a tutorial on how to contour your face like Kim Kardashian.

My face being square and nothing at all like her heart-shaped model of perfection, I am always interested in ways to obfuscate and hide improve on what’s there. I was game to give this tutorial a shot. So I set up my video, and tested it out. Check out the results and share your thoughts.

  1. Gaw-geous, but that’s YOU, not the ‘contouring.’ How long did it take to take all that makeup OFF?! Did it feel really heavy?

  2. Oh em gee

  3. Male perspective anyone?? Ok, 2 things. One – there was not a big difference between no makeup & after makeup. Subtle is good. Second, and this my opinion, why do women want to look like Kim K?? Her face, to me, is not the ‘heart shape of perfection’. I’m sorry, but I just don’t like what she stands for (marriage, sex tape, etc.) As a (most of the time) mature male, if I heard some woman say she’s trying some Kim Kardashian makeup tip or technique, I would probably give the side eye.

So Traci, go what works for you. And I’ll stop trying to look like Oscar De La Hoya….
