As the seasons change and I start to get tired of the look of my living room, I find that recovering the pillows that sit on the couch is the easiest, fastest and least expensive way to give my room a mini-makeover. I’ve gotten the making of pillow covers down to a science, and I can now sew a cover in ten minutes. Even if you’ve never made one before, I bet you can make one with these instructions in just fifteen minutes.

Here is what you’ll need:

  • Sewing machine and thread
  • Scissors
  • Fabric that makes you smile (about 1 yard for large pillows, 1/2 for smaller)
  • Iron and ironing board
  • Pillow to cover
  • Measuring tape or ruler
