Some may say that I’m all about getting a great deal. Others may call that being a cheap a**. Whatevs. The fact remains that I love me some thrift shopping. It’s about the bargains, yes, but also the success of the hunt. I LOVE snooping through a room full of moderately organized items and finding that one diamond in the rough. Some days, you get a big donut; zip, zilch, nada. Other days, you find treasure you can’t believe.

Yesterday was just such a day. My finds:

FIND ONE: Awesome beaded tea light sconces

Similar sconces valued here at $10 each. Bought the pair for $2.95.

FINDS TWO & THREE:  Two sterling silver plated platters

Tarnished, yes, but easily shine-able.  The brighter one is engraved, which I thought a bit kitschy. Loved that. The top one was $2.95. The super tarnished one was $3.95.

FIND FOUR: Nine West faux crocodile handbag

I got this for my oldest; I thought she needed a new bag, and this is totally her style. This similar one is listed at $84, on sale for $24. I bought this for $3.95.

FIND FIVE:
 Bohemian-style leather handbag

Got this puppy for my second oldest. A similar bag was available here for $40. I paid $3.95.

FIND SIX: Library office storage box

It’s just a cardboard organizer.Similar boxes at The Container Store  are priced at $11.99 – 14.99 range. I got this one for 95¢.

FIND SEVEN: Tignanello Handbag, Perfect 10 Tote

I needed a black purse. This Tignanello Handbag, Perfect 10 Tote is regularly priced at $99 at Macy’s; on sale now for $73.99. I paid $5.95.

FIND EIGHT: Funky , vintage style wall sconce
I liked it. Super funky, made  of some plasticky kinda stuff; reminds me of the bright gold gilded stuff my grandmother used to have. It’s going to be a DIY for me. I don’t know what it’s worth– probably not much. A similar, repainted one on Etsy goes for $12.14   I paid $1.95.

FIND NINE: Super cute Studio M dress.

I wasn’t able to find an online equivalent, but prices for Studio M stuff at Macy’s range from sale items at $44.99 to regularly priced stuff at $128. I got mine for $3.95.

FINE TEN, The BIG DEAL of the day: Kid’s Old Navy Twill jacket
Totally adorable, right? And the jacket’s cute, too. In super good shape– I would venture to say hardly worn, this Old Navy twill jacket will work really well as we head into spring. Not sure what it originally went for, but similar ones range from $19.50 to $24. This was my big deal of the haul; I got it for 74¢. No, I am not joking. The AmVet Thrift Store has tag sales– anything with a certain color tag for that day  goes for 75% off. Yesterday was a red tag day. Hence, my 74¢ super bargain.

  1. You have much better stuff at your thrift stores than us! Great finds!

  2. I was super excited– so much great stuff. I usually have great luck at the AmVets Thrift Store, in Fresno (Shields & 168).
